Value, Values, and Valuation: The Marketization of Charitable Foundation Impact Investing

Based on an abductive analytic study, we examine financial and social value incorporation in the multi-valued market of impact investing. This paper draws interviews with investment professionals 54 charitable foundations, intermediary field building organizations investing market, to compare objectives practice, determine whether values are incorporated, thus producing ‘returns’ both types through exchange. We find unincorporated valuation is apparent at level for several investors contrast incorporated or even integrated valuations other investors. demonstrates that rather than incorporating logics a binary hybrid way, moral occurs multiplicity ways different levels depending variety factors including adherence traditional standards design maintenance.
